Ranch System FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions – Plastic Ranch System Fences
1. What material is the fence made from?
Our premium ranch fences are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or vinyl (PVC), designed to be strong, weather-resistant, and low-maintenance.
2. How durable is a plastic ranch fence compared to wood?
Plastic fencing is more weather-resistant, won’t rot, splinter, or attract termites, and generally lasts much longer than traditional wood fencing.
3. Will the fence fade, crack, or become brittle in the sun?
Our quality plastic fencing contains UV inhibitors to prevent fading and brittleness. Lower-cost versions may show effects over time.
4. Does the fence require painting or sealing?
No. It never needs painting, staining, or sealing.
5. How do I install a plastic ranch fence?
Our Ranch Systems use pre-routed posts and slotted rails for easy installation. Typically, you only need basic tools:
- Post-hole digger
- Level
- Concrete mix (for setting posts)
- Tape measure
6. Can I install the fence myself?
Yes. Many homeowners DIY the installation, though long runs or uneven terrain may be easier with professional help.
7. Do the posts need to be set in concrete?
It is recommend concrete footings for long-term stability, especially for corner and gate posts.
8. How does the fence hold up in extreme weather?
Our Ranch System fences are designed to withstand rain, snow, UV exposure, and high winds. In very cold climates, impacts (like from heavy machinery or animals) may increase brittleness.
9. Can animals push through or damage the fence?
While strong, plastic ranch fencing is best suited for horses, cattle, and other livestock that don’t aggressively challenge fences. It’s not ideal for areas with heavy impact or chewing.
10. How do I clean the fence?
Simply rinse with a garden hose or use mild soap and water. For tough stains or algae, use a non-abrasive cleaner.
11. Are replacement parts available?
Yes. Most systems offer replacement rails, posts, caps, and hardware so you can repair sections without replacing the whole fence.
12. Is the fence environmentally friendly?
Many plastic fences are made from recycled HDPE and are fully recyclable at the end of their lifespan. Some brands offer sustainability certifications.
13. Can I attach gates to this system?
Yes. Matching plastic or metal-reinforced gates are usually available, designed to fit the same post spacing and style.
14. What colors does the fence come in?
Typical colors include white, tan, brown, and black, but availability varies by manufacturer.
15. Does the fence require maintenance?
Very little. Other than occasional cleaning and checking for loose fasteners, plastic ranch fences are virtually maintenance-free.
